• Mozocam in Harlem

These are some selects taken from footage shot for the NBC special “Conviction”. The Mozocam is such an effective tool in an urban environment…that we just had to showcase it. All imagery was shot in RED Cinema. Enjoy!

  • Sing Sing – long format

About 4 months ago NBC had asked me to shoot with the Mozocam for their “Conviction” special.  Up until this point there had been very limited access granted for shooting the interiors of Sing Sing prison that sits about 20 miles north of NYC on the Hudson. Producer Dan Slepian had spent 10 years working on this story and wanted cinematic footage of the prison and other story elements. We made the most of it. Most of the interiors were [...]

  • Vanity Fair

Producer Josh Gelman from 48 hours asked me to set the scene for this Vanity Fair / CBS collaboration.  He had chosen the Monkey Bar in NYC for it’s richness, ambiance and charm.  He wanted to film a dialogue between three Vanity Fair authors describing their most interesting stories. The feel was to be an after hours meeting of drinks and discussion between three colleagues.  I chose to post this quick collection of angles from the shoot as an example [...]

  • Injustice Files – 2011 treatment

This was the third sizzle reel that I had completed for Investigation Discovery’s series, “Injustice Files.”  My approach towards this third installment which again focuses on racial crimes in the state of Mississippi was to take a much grittier, filmic approach to shooting.  I wanted everything to have constant motion.  So, when shooting interviews I worked off of a dolly system and when shooting in the field, the camera was either harnessed to me or suspended from my body in [...]

About a year ago I met Keith Beauchamp, an award winning filmmaker searching for the truth in Mississippi. Keith is one of the most passionate people I know. He is tireless when it comes to researching unsolved mysterious deaths in the rural South.   The producer’s of his new series asked me to come up with a “look” for the recreations that they had to film revolving around Keith’s research and the deaths that had occurred in Mississippi. These were [...]

    Consultation / Promotions

For a span of almost four years I worked  periodically as a Video Consultant / DP for Tisbury Tours and James Taylor.  My work included still photography for promotions, video documentation, editing and developing specialized camera applications for guitar work.  I worked exclusively with freelance producer Susan Dangel during this time and this edited video represents that collaboration.  This is only a sampling of my work from that time. An amazing experience.

Manhattan in Motion – Josh Owens

If you haven’t noticed already, what we love here most at RFP is motion! We really enjoy pushing the boundaries of motion within our imagery because it keeps viewers connected and engaged and it allows us to tell stories on another level. Over the years of working in production I have learned that a team consisting of professionals with specialized skill sets creates a much stronger end product for clients. For this reason, we are really proud to represent Josh [...]

    Smokejumpers / Program Development

Smokejumpers is a joint effort between RFP and One Fish Two Fish Productions. We are currently in production and under contract with the (BLM) Boise Land management on Smokejumpers production. My colleague Russ Fisher C.A.S. and I began development on this project almost two years ago. Truly a labor of love, Smokejumpers is determined to be a docu-series with really rich characters and surreal landscapes, all surrounded by massive forest fires which create natural drama and anticipation. It would surely [...]

    TEACH and OMNI-Tracker

This spot was shot entirely on Warren Herndon’s Omni-tracker. Omni-tracker is one of the most innovative concepts that I have had the pleasure of using in years. It all began with a simple phone call. While researching the web for a dolly system that would allow me to arc and get low to the ground, for both subject and product work, I found Warren’s site for Omni-tracker. Warren was not only receptive to my ideas on how I wanted to [...]

    Gatti Promo

This spot was shot as a pitch-reel for CBS’ 48 Hours “Gatti” season premier. On site producer Keith McManus and I shot this at Ramahlo’s Gym outside of Boston. This famous gym is where Mickey Ward trained for all three fights against Arturo Gatti and we thought it was only fitting to shoot these bumpers there. It was at the height of summer and 108 degrees inside the second floor gym when we shot this. Need-less-to-say, we were all sweating [...]

    MozoCam is Here!

Mozocam was developed by my colleague Lee Dashiell of OspreyHD. For years we have been trying to figure out a way to create limitless, gliding motion with no boundaries while using a small crew to cover a lot of ground. We were also looking to create something that bridged both the network and agency worlds visually. After much trial and error Lee found the impetus for Mozocam after renting a Segway in Miami while on a shoot last year.  Constantly striving to bring his [...]

    A Day Well Spent, Campaign

“A Day Well Spent” was a campaign shot for Stoneblossom Floral and Event Design out of Newport Rhode Island. Owner Joyce Holland requested a fashion based commercial that would focus on a couple sharing a day in their loft. They wanted something sexy and fun. Models Adrienne Ferreira and Tom Berklund had incredible chemistry and really made this an incredibly fun shoot. There was amazing sunlight pouring in the windows early that morning and we decided to chase it around the Long [...]
